Tikapur Park

A large, shady park on the bank of the Karnali at Tikapur, laid out around a former royal residence — lawns, flower beds, old trees and langur monkeys, and the far-west's favourite picnic spot.
Tikapur is a market town on the Karnali in southern Kailali. Its park, set on the riverbank, was developed around a royal residence known as Mahendra Griha and has become the best-loved public garden of the far-western plains.
What to see
Wide lawns, rose beds, tall trees full of grey langurs, and paths down to the river make it a relaxing place to spend a few hours. Families and school groups come at weekends and holidays, and the park fills up at New Year and festival times.
Tharu country
The villages around Tikapur are home to Dangaura and Rana Tharu communities. Ask locally about homestays, and look for Tharu crafts and dishes in the bazaar.
